Polymer-based waterproof coatings are formulated by blending synthetic polymers (such as acrylates, polyurethanes, VAE copolymer emulsions, etc.) as the core film-forming substances, together with additives (dispersants, defoamers, etc.) and fillers (talc, calcium carbonate, etc.). Their compositional characteristics bring significant advantages, while also determining the scope of their applicable scenarios.

Application Scope

 

 

● Roofs: New and old flat roofs, sloped roofs, as well as parts like gutters and eaves, especially suitable for irregular-shaped areas.

 

● Ground buildings: Waterproofing and moisture-proofing for bathrooms, kitchens, pools, and exterior walls.

 

● Underground buildings: Internal and external walls, floors, underground tunnels, elevator shafts, etc.

 

● Can be used in combination with various waterproof membranes or coatings to enhance waterproofing effect and service life.

 

● When used in combination with SBS waterproof membranes, the waterproofing effect is even better.

Excellent waterproof sealing performance
The polymer molecular chain structure is dense, forming a continuous, non-porous elastic film after film formation, which can effectively block water penetration. Moreover, the intermolecular forces of polymers are strong, giving the film layer long-lasting water resistance, and it is not easy to swell or fail due to water immersion.

 

High elasticity and crack resistance
Polymers themselves have good flexibility and elongation (usually reaching over 200%), which can adapt to micro-deformations of the base layer (such as concrete, masonry) caused by temperature changes and settlement, reducing the risk of leakage due to base layer cracking.

Excellent weather resistance and durability
Polymer molecules have strong stability, with excellent UV aging resistance and high/low temperature resistance (adapting to environments from -20°C to 80°C). They are not easily embrittled or powdered due to sunlight exposure or freeze-thaw cycles. Their service life generally reaches more than 10 years, far superior to traditional asphalt-based coatings.

 

Better environmental friendliness
Most are water-based systems (using water as the dispersion medium), containing no or low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). There is no pungent odor during construction, with minimal impact on humans and the environment, meeting the requirements for green building materials.

 

Good adhesion and compatibility
Polymer emulsions can closely bond with various base surfaces such as concrete, cement mortar, metal, and wood, with strong adhesion. They are also compatible with other waterproof materials (such as membranes and sealants), facilitating composite waterproofing construction.

 

High construction convenience
Most are one-component coatings, requiring no on-site mixing and can be directly brushed, rolled, or sprayed. They have a fast drying speed (usually surface-drying within 2-4 hours) and allow multi-layer construction, making them suitable for detailed treatment of complex base layers (such as internal and external corners, pipe roots).
