Butyl Tape
Butyl tape is an elastic-plastic self-adhesive material with a variety of tones or colors. It is suitable for release papers with or without various backing layers. Butyl rubber sealing tape has a self-adhesive layer on one side and is protected by release paper, and the other side is reinforced with a rubber vulcanizer based on a thermoplastic matrix. It is a non-curing self-adhesive waterproof sealing tape made of rubber as the main raw material and other additives through advanced processing. It has extremely strong adhesion to various material surfaces, and has excellent weather resistance, aging resistance and waterproofness. As with any adhesive, if you want to make full use of the strength of butyl tape, it is very important to ensure the correct installation process. Here is a detailed step-by-step installation process:
1. Before installing the butyl tape, it is best to put it in the refrigerator to cool for 2-3 hours. This will make it easier to manage. This step is optional, but the refrigerated butyl tape will be easier to manage and adapt.
2. Make sure the surface where the butyl tape is installed is clean, dry and dust-free. Wipe the area thoroughly, clean with alcohol solution (if applicable), and let it dry completely before applying the tape.
3. Remove the tape from the roll. The tape itself is easy to tear, so you won't encounter any problems. But it should be noted: make sure not to touch the adhesive side too much, because oil on your hands or any other foreign matter will contaminate the adhesive and reduce its bonding strength.
4. Match the tape to the surface texture to eliminate any gaps that may exist between the tape and the surface. The tape is compatible, so make sure to shape and press it onto uneven, curved and empty areas of the surface, covering all possible openings.
Roll up multiple layers of tape to make the butyl tape thicker. This installation will greatly increase the strength, stability and airtight waterproofing of the application. Apply pressure to the application area to eliminate any bubbles that may exist.
